Palabras claves: bovinos, mutaciones cromosómicas, reproducción, fertilidad, freemartinismo, translocación robertsoniana 1/29, aneuploidías.ABSTRACT: Chromosomal abnormalities are variations in the number or the structure of the chromosomes in a species. They originate during the cycle of cellular division in either the somatic or the germinal tissue. Infertiliy or impairtment of reproductive performance in carriers animals due to production of non-functional gametes, embryonic mortality, or anomalies in the development of the reproductive system, are common consequences. This article is a review of the most common chromosomal mutations reported in cattle emphasizing their effects on the reproduction of the carrying animals and the transmission to their offspring. Keywords: Cattle, chromosomal abnormalities, reproduction, fertility, freemartinism, robertsonian translocation 1:29, aneuploidies. Palabras clave: Inmunoestimulantes, Inmunoterapia, Inmunidad especifica e inespecífica.ABSTRACT: Immunotherapy includes meth- ods that use immunologic prin- ciples to prevent the disease. Immunostimulants augment the resistance to disease through an increase in specific and non-spe- cific defense mechanisms, convert themselves in prophylactic agents, no curative. Limitation of immunostimulation depend on development state of the immune system, target organisms, type of stimulant to use and adminis- tration procedures. Many immunostimulants are habitual nutrients of the diet such as polysaccharides, lipids or proteins that will have to be provided in higher concentrations than normal to produce immunostimulant effects. Vitamins and minerals appertain to immunomodulators group. Most used immunostimulants are of the bacterial origin (lypopolysaccharides, CpG oligodeoxynucleotides) as well as -glucans from fungi and yeast. This review show the most relevant immunostimulants used in fish as well as mammals. This topic is object of study in the study group of fish health.Key word: Immunostimulants, Immunotherapy, specific and non-specific immunityPublicación Sólo datos Intraoperative analgesic effects of intratesticular lidocaine in a dog undergoing elective orchiectomy: case report(Universidad de los Llanos, 2016-07-01) Ávila-Rodríguez, Albert; Buriticá-Gaviria, Edwin F.; Echeverry-Bonilla, DiegoA 1-year-old male Cocker Spaniel, weighing 10.5 kg, was referred for elective orchiectomy. An intratesticular injection of lidocaine was performed as a part of multimodal anesthetic protocol that also included: acepromazine, meloxicam, tramadol and ketamine. During the intraoperative period the cardiorespiratory parameters (heart rate, respiratory rate, and mean arterial blood pressure), the intraoperative anesthetic (ketamine) and analgesic (fentanyl) consumption, and the presence of autonomous nociceptive responses were evaluated. Increases of baseline cardiorespiratory parameters above 10% or the presence of autonomous nociceptive responses would be considered as indicative of insufficient analgesic coverage, for which 1 μg/kg IV of fentanyl would be employed. The evaluated cardiorespiratory variables were stable, and no autonomous nociceptive responses were observed. For this reason no additional ketamine boluses nor rescue analgesics were administered. It is suggested that intratesticular lidocaine, as a part of the multimodal analgesic protocol employed, contributed to improve the analgesic coverage during orchiectomy in this dog.
