Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) is the causal agent of Johne's disease in ruminants, a chronic granulomatous enteritis, and the possible zoonotic link of MAP as an etiological agent of Crohn's disease (CD) has been suggested for more than a century. ) in humans, due to the histopathological similarities of the two diseases, however, an etiological link of MAP in the pathogenesis of Crohn's Disease has not yet been established, with an etiology that may be multifactorial, The complicated diagnostic tests and the difficulty of isolating MAP by culture have not allowed us to elucidate the causal association of MAP and humans with Crohn's Disease. Seeking to answer the question: Is there an etiological link between paratuberculosis and Crohn's Disease?, a critical and updated documentary investigation of the scientific evidence presented in the last five years was carried out on the most recent findings. representative of the possible link of MAP in the etiopathogenesis of Crohn's Disease, the presence of MAP in tissues of patients with CD was found in some case reports and investigations carried out in this period of time using different techniques. diagnostics confirming the possibility that MAP is a zoonotic pathogen.eng
